Ken Grossinger

For more than four decades, Ken Grossinger has worked as a strategist in movements for social and economic justice – including at the AFL-CIO and Service Employees International Union – as well as in philanthropic and national advocacy organizations. He currently serves as director of Impact Philanthropy at Democracy Partners, where he advises donors and movement leaders on long-term democratic strategy.

In recent years, Ken has come to see culture and narrative as essential levers of social change, a conviction that now drives his work alongside organizers and artists. He served as CEO of the CrossCurrents Foundation, which supported collaborations between artists and community organizations working at the intersection of social justice and civic participation.

His executive producing credits include the award-winning Netflix documentaries The Social Dilemma (2020) and The Bleeding Edge (2018), as well as the documentary films Borderland: The Line Within (2024), Boycott (2021), and Won't You Be My Neighbor (2018). Across these projects, he has collaborated with artists to deploy public art and billboard campaigns to advance social change.

Ken is the author of Art Works: How Organizers and Artists are Creating a Better World Together (The New Press, 2023; paperback edition 2026) and has published numerous articles on social change strategies.

He lives in Washington, DC, and Telluride, Colorado.
